Women at the Village Fountain,
Gambatesa, September 1960
Gambatesa, September 1960
The fountain lies in a square at the southern end of the village in a place called Largo della Fontana, or, the open space around the fountain. The water-pot is called a tina in dialect.
The crest of the fountain reads 1905, although the source is of course much older than that. The waterspouts appear to be the head of a bearded man with wavy hair. There are many more notes about Gambatesa's Largo Fontana on this site.
