Gourds used to store Salt in Gambatesa
The photograph below shows the type of gourd in which salt used to be stored. The gourd was cut at the neck and the round half was hollowed out through the neck. Then salt was stored inside.
Beneath the gourd on the right, the old hose end gives an idea of the gourds' size. They are about twice the size of a baseball. (The doorway behind the gourds is to a cowshed.)
