The Death Certificate of Nicola Iacovelli (1924-1931)
The death certificate and the 1930 Census record state that Nicola was born in New Jersey. According to his gravestone in Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Nicola was born in 1924. The "Index of Births in New Jersey, 1920-24, for Camden City" names a Iacovelli, Nicola G. as having been born on 18 March 1924. This may be Nicola.

The certificate states that Nicholas Yacovelli died on 25 July 1931 at 1 P.M. The place of death was in Brooklyn [Borough, Kings County, New York] at Atlantic Avenue and Linwood Street. He was 8 years old and attended school. His Birthplace was New Jersey, but he had been resident in New York all his life. His father was Joseph [Yacovelli], born in Italy; and his mother's maiden name was Pasqualina Derenzi, born in Italy. The residence of the deceased was 2998 Atlantic Avenue [Brooklyn]. The body of the deceased was examined in the morgue on 25 July 1931. Determining cause of death was fracture of the skull. Place of burial: Camden, New Jersey, on 29 July 1931. Undertaker: Nicholas Blanda, 711 Liberty Avenue [There was a Nicholas Blanda resident at 725 Liberty Avenue, Brooklyn, in 1940].
The "Medical Examiners' Reports" states that the cause of death was a fractured skull resulting from being struck in the street by a pleasure auto on 25 July. And that the remains were released for burial or cremation to an undertaker, namely Nicholas Blanda, employed by Pasqualina Yacovelli, the mother of the deceased.
