Pasqualina DiRenzo (1902-1981) and her sister Nunziata DiRenzo's son Louis (Luigi) Valente (1919-1950) at the Marconi Memorial, New York World's Fair, 1939.

Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) was the inventor of the first practical wireless telegraph.  In 1928 this device made the rescue of the cabin crew of Umberto Nobile's airship Italia off the arctic pack ice possible.
