This photograph shows Gambatesa's Medieval Castle and (the roof and bell tower of) the Church of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle (Chiesa S. Bartolomeo Ap.) as seen from the southwest. The field in the foreground is the Contrada Carestia ("Famine Quarter").
[Street map of the town center of Gambatesa]
Beyond the first layer of buildings lies the Corso Roma which runs the length of the village beginning at Largo Fontana. Beyond another layer of buildings is the square named Largo del Castello which is between the Church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo and the Castle; from this small square, on the farther side of the church, begins Via del Serrone running parallel to Corso Roma.
