Gambatesa in the Diocese of Benevento
The map below shows the part of the Diocese of Benevento that includes the parishes of Gambatesa and San Marco dei Cavoti, as well as the parishes of Santa Croce del Sannio (the "Santa Croce presso Morcone" of the Italian Civil Register), Jelsi and Riccia. The map also shows the Diocese of Alife and part of the Diocese of Cerreto Sannita. (The City of Campobasso belongs to the Diocese of Boiano e Campobasso.)

The Diocese of Benevento, in the "Counciliar Region" of Benevento (Regione Conciliare Beneventana), contained 82 townships (comuni): 24 were in the Province of Avellino, 41 in the Province of Benevento, and 17 were in the Province of Campobasso. Of the 340,000 inhabitants of the Diocese of Benevento, 60 were not Roman Catholics.
